2017 Summer Reading

It's that time of year again! All of our teachers have been working hard readying children to take on the challenge of reading every single day this summer and topping the District's record of 618, 445 minutes read last summer. We are once again partnering with our friends at the Milton Public Library to ensure that all students have ample access to everything that the library has to offer and a place to enter their minutes read.  Students in grades 1-6 (who were with us last year) should already have accounts set up for summer reading and families should have received an email last week prompting them to reactivate that account. Families new to the schools or with Kindergarten students received a notice last week with sign up instructions. It is our expectation that each and every child is signed up and ready to go, so please reach out to Amy Gale ( if you have any questions regarding summer reading. Click HERE for more details.

Get Involved

We have a few openings for specific school events and activities next year. If you have an interest in being involved please email the PTO at You would be paired with an experienced parent who has organized these events in the past.

Veteran's Day Remembrance 4-5 hours in Fall
Cultural assemblies 1-2 hours per month (or just help with one event)
Walk and Wheel Wednesday Coordinator 1-2 hours, several times a year

We are always looking for help on our many committees and on our PTO board.
If you have an hour to give here and there, a chunk of time you could give once or a few hours a month, there is a role that will work for any schedule and interest! To see what committees and events we have click HERE for an overview.

Birthday Books

Birthday books is a fun and memorable way for Cunningham kids to celebrate their birthdays (or 1/2 birthdays for summer kids) at school! Here’s how it works - you send in the birthday book form to the front office, or email to, and also send a check for $10 made out to Cunningham PTO, or pay through our PayPalaccount.

During your child’s birthday month they will pick a book of their choice from an assortment of books to be donated to the school library. Your child will receive a certificate thanking them for their donation, and a commemorative book plate will be placed in their book with their name and birthday. For years to come every student who reads that book will know it was a Birthday Book from your child!

This program allows your child to learn the joy of philanthropy at an early age and benefits the school library by supplying books to be shared with the Cunningham community. If you have any questions about the program, please contact Nicole Chiapparo at

Textile Box

Do you have old textiles that you would like out of your house? T-shirts that are too old to donate, a mismatched shoe, a torn sheet? All of this can be put in the white textile box behind the school and Cunningham earns money based on how full the box is each month. We've received checks for $70.00 and $85.00 and the next one coming is $171.00! You get to clean out and Cunningham earns funds for programing. Be sure to use the box marked Cunningham!
